It's wartime, the Korean war that is. A mix bag of ordinary people (alike you or me) have been drafted to the middle of no-where to "patch up" an endless flow of war victims. When this group is not attending to the wounded, they usually get up to no good to pass the time or to deal with the hell they are forced to put up with.
